Shimmer PIR is typically used for occupant sensing
Description
The Shimmer PIR (Passive Infra Red) sensor senses the difference in heat emitted by artefacts in motion from that of the background space. These sensors detect motion within a field of view that requires a line of sight and is mounted in a location where it can view the area to be monitored.
The Shimmer PIR sensor utilises the advanced Panasonic NaPiOn sensor which provides the lowest power PIR solutions (<50uA). With high noise immunity to reduce false positives, the Shimmer PIR has narrow field spot detection, with a factory option for slight motion and long rate detection.
Key Features
The Shimmer PIR supports high sample rates to eliminate false or missed data, whilst providing a micro-power occupant sensing solution. The Shimmer platform has proven PIR capability for 802.15.4 or Bluetooth Personal Area Network.
Applications
The Shimmer PIR can be used in a wide variety of applications from intelligent buildings to remote patient monitoring. Some typical applications to date include:
- Occupant monitoring
- Object use monitoring
- Energy conservation
- Gait velocity measurement
