Description

The Shimmer Kinematics Development Kit provides developers with a comprehensive tool set to support rapid design, prototyping and implementation of wireless solutions based on the state of the art Shimmer platform. The kit provides a complete development environment for Bluetooth*, IEEE 802.15.4*, or local storage in body worn applications.

The kit provides four assembled Shimmer 9DoF units. Utilising a single and dual axis angular rate gyroscopes, and a 3 axis digital compass the Shimmer 9DoF module can perform provide static and dynamic orientation, inertial measurement, and complex 3D motion sensing .

When combined with the Shimmer platform’s integrated accelerometer the assembled unit provides 9 degrees of freedom motion capture via the tri-axial accelerometer, tri-axial gyro, and tri-axial magnetometer. The magnetic sensing reduces drift error in kinematic calculations and the board has fixed sensor alignment.

The Shimmer Kinematics Development Kit can be utilised in a range of applications from activity monitoring to tremor analysis and sports technique all free from any wired constraints.

Using the Shimmer Kinematics Development Kit enables the user to capture raw data and as it is supported by a range of development software tools and applications including LabVIEW and C# applications this ensures simplicity in the creation of wearable wireless solutions.
