The USB Reader is a dock used for programming and charging the Shimmer unit

Description

The USB Reader and programming dock is used for programming the Shimmer unit. This also can be used as a single unit charging dock and is connected via USB cable to any PC or laptop. When the docks are plugged into a Windows system, the drivers will load automatically and a message will display in the lower right of your screen identifying the dock.  When a Shimmer with a microSD card is inserted into a USB Reader Dock that is connected to a PC, the host system can mount the flash storage card in Shimmer as though it were a USB flash key.
