Description
The Live Distribution offers a convenient way to start experimenting with the TinyOS programming environment - it is based on the stable and well-proven Ubuntu Linux 7.10 distribution. Using the Live Distribution you can write / build / test TinyOS (1.xx and 2.xx) programs using the Linux live environment.
Key Features
- Boot from Live Distribution and have the same 'fresh environment' on any standard x86 computer at any time (the environment includes TinyOS 1.xx and now also TinyOS 2.xx but also many other programs including OpenOffice)
- Install programs or read documents/manuals
- Install from the Live Distribution to a computer with some free space and get a 'normal Linux environment' but with TinyOS already installed; this will not only work at the best possible speed but will be able to get automatic updates and specific optimizations.
- Using files on the Live Distribution it is also possible to install the CYGWIN environment, the TinyOS source code + build tools and the BioMOBIUS™ Rapid Development Platform onto a Windows installation (without any network access); also it is possible under Windows to use the Live Distribution directly in a 'virtual machine' by using the free VMware Player.
