Kinematics

Shimmer has a full range of kinematic modules for wearable inertial measurements (often referred to as IMU’s: inertial measurement units) and complex motion sensing applications. Whether you require 3 axis (Accelerometer), 6 axis (Accel/Gyro), or full 9 degrees (Accel/Gyro/Magnetometer) of freedom motion capture – Shimmer provides low power sensing capability all in a small wearable form factor.

Applications

Inertial measurement units (IMU) are particular useful to applications involving any level of biomechanics, motion tracking, orientation, or activity classification. Shimmer’s kinematics modules have been applied to aspects of personal health monitoring to classify and measure levels of activity, calorific expenditure, posture and gait analysis, motor fluctuation, monitor rehabilitation, assess exercise accuracy and compliance, and for environmental vibration monitoring.
