The Shimmer platform was originally developed by Intel Research Labs in 2006, and Shimmer Research was established in 2008 following a worldwide licensing agreement.

Based around the Shimmer wireless sensor platform, the company now ships to over 40 countries worldwide. Shimmer Research has developed a full range of wearable wireless sensing products that are trusted and utilised by some of the world’s leading research institutions and OEM’s in their research and product development.
